With the Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl-bound, renowned celebrity Chef John Howie of Seastar Restaurant and Raw Bar and former Seahawks standout Craig Terrill are preparing to represent the defending world champions at the 24th Annual Taste of the NFL Party with a Purpose®, held on the eve of Super Bowl XLIX on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 at WestWorld of Scottsdale. Tickets to the Party with a Purpose® are available for purchase at www.TasteoftheNFL.com.

For the 10th year in a row, Chef Howie will showcase his culinary talents at the star-studded event as he serves up his signature tortilla soup with shrimp-avocado ceviche relish with the assistance of NFL player representative, Craig Terrill, better known as “The Singing Seahawk.” Chef Howie and Terrill join top chefs from all 32 NFL markets and some of the NFL's greatest players at the Party with a Purpose® to raise money in support of food banks throughout the United States. Every dollar raised allows food banks to distribute up to eight meals into communities across the U.S.

Chef Howie’s season-long fundraising efforts will benefit the Seattle Food Lifeline, which provides 82,000 meals a day to local food assistance programs, and that has created a sustainable approach to hunger throughout Seattle.

“We’re excited to represent the Seattle Seahawks as they gear up for Super Bowl XLIX, but more importantly, we’re excited to help raise more awareness and money for food banks like the Seattle Food Lifeline through our efforts with the Taste of the NFL,” said Howie. Fans are encouraged to continue to lend their support by donating to Chef John Howie’s restaurant’s fundraising page online at www.kickhungerchallenge.com.

This year’s Party with a Purpose brings together exceptional cuisine, prominent chefs from around the country, former NFL greats, coaches, legends, celebrities and GRAMMY® award-winning country group, Little Big Town, all to support the fight against hunger. Andrew Zimmern, the creator, host and co-executive producer of Travel Channel’s hit series, Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern, is this year’s national culinary host for the Party with a Purpose®. He will lead the charge along side national celebrity spokesperson, Alyssa Milano.

ABOUT KICK HUNGER CHALLENGE
The Kick Hunger Challenge is an online-only fundraising campaign spearheaded by Taste of the NFL, (www.TasteoftheNFL.com). This friendly “competition” pits fans from all 32 NFL teams against each other to raise money for their local food banks in NFL communities nationwide. Throughout the 2014-15 football season, fans will have the opportunity to support one of the 32 NFL teams and directly impact the donation of thousands of meals to food banks in their team’s community.

ABOUT CHEF JOHN HOWIE
Chef/Owner John Howie, formerly of Palisade Restaurant in Seattle, opened Seastar Restaurant & Raw Bar in downtown Bellevue, March 11, 2002. He was the opening chef and driving force behind the popular Magnolia restaurant, which became a landmark restaurant. During his tenure at these Seattle restaurants, he has been featured on Martha Stewart Living Television, CBS Early Morning Show, and Northwest Cable News.

Chef Howie's expertise with Pacific Northwest fresh fish and seafood has been a mainstay of Seastar and his popular annual October promotion "Waters of the World" has allowed him to experiment and discover great seafood products from all corners of the world. His signature culinary style includes using the finest fresh Northwest products, imparting subtle flavors to the foods using unique cooking technologies and an eclectic variety of global cuisines.

ABOUT CRAIG TERRILL
Craig Terrill played defensive tackle for the Seahawks from 2004-2010. An avid musician, Terrill has played on stage with Garth Brooks, Seal and sang the National Anthem at a Seahawks playoff game in 2008. He is the fourth player from Purdue University drafted by the Seahawks. and registered 79 career tackles (58 solo), seven sacks and four fumble recoveries. He ranks second in club history with four career blocked field goals.
