Chef David Lawrence, San Francisco 49ers Celebrity Chef, Serves Up Several Events to Support Taste of the NFL’s National ‘Kick Hunger Challenge’
San Francisco, CA (12-Nov-2014)

1300 ON FILLMORE, the renowned restaurant in the heart of San Francisco’s historic Fillmore Jazz Preservation District, will host a series of Kick Hunger Challenge events as part of its goal of raising awareness and $10,000 to support the SF-Marin Food Bank ($10,000 equates to 30,000 meals in San Francisco and Marin). Chef David Lawrence of 1300 Fillmore, and Defensive End Chris Doleman, perhaps best known locally for his on-field accomplishments with the SF 49ers from 1996-1998, will team up to represent the city of San Francisco at the annual Taste of the NFL’s Party with a Purpose fundraising gala held on the eve of Super Bowl, January 31, 2015 at WestWorld in Scottsdale, Arizona.

All season long, each NFL city will have a chance to fundraise for their local food bank, the winner garnering bragging rights and recognition at the national Taste of the NFL event. To lead San Francisco in this friendly competition, Chef Lawrence and his wife Monetta White, owners of 1300 on Fillmore, will host a series of unique monthly events, each one gathering NFL fans and foodies together to enjoy 1300 on Fillmore’s elegant take on Southern ‘comfort’ food. Proceeds from event tickets sold will be donated to the SF-Marin Food Bank, and be reflected on the Kick Hunger Challenge donation thermometer available at kickhungerchallenge.org.

ABOUT KICK HUNGER CHALLENGE
The Kick Hunger Challenge is an online-only fundraising campaign spearheaded by Taste of the NFL, (www.TasteoftheNFL.com). This friendly “competition” pits fans from all 32 NFL teams against each other to raise money for food banks in NFL communities nationwide. Throughout the 2014-15 football season, fans will have the opportunity to support one of the 32 NFL teams and directly impact the donation of thousands of meals to food banks in their team’s community.

Fans can also support Taste of the NFL’s mission to end hunger by donating to their favorite NFL team’s fundraising page online at kickhungerchallenge.com. One hundred percent of donations made to a team’s individual page will be distributed to the team’s local food bank partner.

ABOUT TASTE OF THE NFL
Since 1992, the Taste of the NFL (a 501c3 organization) has rallied the country's top chefs and the NFL's greatest players to raise money in support of food banks throughout the United States. To date, Taste of The NFL’s programs and events have raised $22 million dollars to help feed the 37 million Americans, (many of them children and seniors), who have turned to their local food banks for assistance. The season long efforts culminate each year with the Taste of the NFL’s Party with a Purpose®. Held on the eve of Super Bowl XLIX on Saturday, January 31, 2015 in Scottsdale, this year’s star-studded fundraising event brings together exceptional cuisine, prominent chefs from around the country, NFL players, coaches, legends and more, all to support the fight against hunger. Learn more about the Kick Hunger Challenge at www.TasteoftheNFL.com.

ABOUT THE SF-MARIN FOOD BANK
The Food Bank plays a central role in the food assistance network in San Francisco and Marin, where one in four residents is at risk of hunger. Families, seniors and individuals find critical support in the food the Food Bank delivers to its 450 partnering organizations, including 240 weekly grocery pantries. Each week, the Food Bank’s programs serve more than 144,000 people.

The pantry network is the cornerstone of the Food Bank’s distribution system. Set up farmer’s market-style, the Food Bank’s pantries help households select groceries that can be used to create home-cooked meals. Nearly 60 percent of what is distributed is fresh fruits and vegetables.

The Food Bank will distribute more than 47 million pounds of food to the community this year alone – enough for more than 105,000 meals every day.
