Executive Chef Michael McKinney, a native of North Florida, started working in kitchens while pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. It was during this time that he found his passion for cooking and changed career paths.
While attending the Culinary Management program at FSCJ he was afforded the opportunity to take over as Pastry Chef at Ponte Vedra’s Marsh Landing Country Club for a span of 3 years.
While in the Ponte Vedra area he then moved on the become Sous Chef at MacKenzie's Steakhouse, a charming and comfortable dining room with an extensive bar located in Sawgrass Village.
After moving from the beach to the Urban Core in 2006, he opened Chew Restaurant alongside Jonathan Insetta, as the Executive Chef. In 2009, he moved to Insetta’s new concept Restaurant Orsay, as Sous Chef.
In the interest of gaining more knowledge and experience in how restaurants procure foods, he spent 3 years as the Corporate Executive Chef at Sysco Foods of Jacksonville, Florida
In 2016, the well rounded Mckinney returned to Restaurant Orsay as Executive Chef.
